Rochelle L. Garcia, MD, is a general surgical pathologist and a Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Washington School of Medicine. She holds subspecialty expertise in gynecologic and breast pathology and is also board-certified in cytopathology. Dr. Garcia is deeply involved in medical education, focusing on teaching residents and medical students how to provide patient-centered and cost-effective diagnostic pathology through effective clinical communication.Â
Her research efforts are largely collaborative, working alongside gynecologic oncologists to advance the understanding of ovarian and fallopian tube neoplasms. A significant portion of her career is dedicated to international service; she frequently volunteers her expertise in Kenya, specifically at a mission hospital in Kijabe, where she provides diagnostic services and mentors local residents. In addition to her pathology work, she serves as an adjunct professor in the University of Washington’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. As of 2025, she continues to practice in Seattle, maintaining affiliations with major medical centers including UW Medical Center-Montlake and Harborview Medical Center
