Overview:

In this lecture, “Empowering the Pathologist: Building Your Own Digital Pathology Tools with LLMs,” Ulysses Balis, MD, explores how large language models (LLMs) can be leveraged by pathologists to develop practical, customized digital tools for pathology practice, education, and research. The session introduces the capabilities of modern LLMs and demonstrates how they can support tasks such as information organization, workflow automation, data interpretation, and the development of tailored applications without requiring extensive programming expertise. Dr. Balis also discusses considerations surrounding responsible implementation, validation, and the evolving role of artificial intelligence in pathology. The lecture aims to empower pathologists to move beyond simply using existing AI tools and begin creating solutions that address their own clinical, educational, and research needs.
