Quentin Eichbaum, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Pathology and Medical Education who joined Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, New York, as a Senior Member and the Director of Transfusion Medicine and Cellular Therapies in late 2024. Prior to this role, he was a Professor at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), where he directed the Transfusion Medicine fellowship and the Vanderbilt Pathology Program in Global Health. He earned his medical degree and PhD from Harvard Medical School and MIT before completing his residency at Massachusetts General Hospital.Â
Dr. Eichbaum is a leading international figure in global health education and transfusion medicine. He chairs the AABB Global Transfusion Forum and the AABB Global Standards Committee, and he serves on the Board of Directors of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH). His work extends deeply into sub-Saharan Africa, where he co-founded the Consortium of New Sub-Sahara African Medical Schools (CONSAMS) to address the critical shortage of healthcare professionals. His research and academic interests bridge clinical pathology with the medical humanities and global health diagnostics
