Shahin Sayed, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor and the Chair of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi. With over two decades of experience in the field, she is a consultant histopathologist specializing in oncopathology, with a particular research and clinical focus on breast cancer and solid hematolymphoid malignancies. Dr. Sayed earned her medical degree and Master of Medicine in Pathology from the University of Nairobi and recently completed her PhD in Anatomical Pathology at the University of Cape Town in 2022.Â
Dr. Sayed advocates for diagnostic equity in Africa and is the Country Advisor for Kenya for the Royal College of Pathologists (RCPath-UK). She also holds leadership positions with the College of Pathologists of East, Central and Southern Africa (COPECSA) and African Strategies for Advancing Pathology (ASAP).
